- Project leader of multidisciplinary teams for writing, revising and applying for appropriate environmental permits (including Installation Safety Reports (IVRs) in relation to the SEVESO directive);
- Monitoring legislation and regulations relevant to SABIC, identifying relevant developments and changes, advising on actions to be taken and coordinating the implementation of environmental legislation for SABIC;
- Contributing to the preparation, development and implementation of the environmental policy (including external safety) of SABIC Limburg B.V. taking into account the Chemelot Site regulations;
- On behalf of SABIC Limburg B.V. coordinating communication with the various competent authorities, as well as providing an active relationship with these stakeholders;
- Coordination and advice regarding regulatory inspections of various governments;
- Assessing the feasibility of new activities from an environmental point of view by testing the expected environmental impact against current environmental policy SABIC resp. government environmental policy/legislation and the environmental space available within the Chemelot site. In this context, advising the plants with regard to the measures to be taken and investments to be made;
- Advocacy on behalf of SABIC resp. the Chemelot site in connection with the development of new policy and new legislation by the government, for example through participation in (national) working groups;
- Monitor the License to Operate in relation to the environment together with the Environmental Engineer.
- A bachelor degree, preferably in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- At least 3-5 years in the implementation of environmental legislation and as project leader of multidisciplinary teams for obtaining and environmental permit.
- Excellent Dutch speaking, reading and writing skills
- Good knowledge of Dutch and European government policy, legislation and regulations with regard to the environment and external safety
- The ability to analyze complex safety and environmental issues, convincing internal and external stakeholders to follow the proposed strategies and tactics
- Maintaining a good network of relevant internal and external stakeholders and expertise holders
- Customer focused, team player, decisive and result oriented, self-propelling and a strong drive for Responsible Care and EHS improvements

To support manufacturing management site Geleen in achieving these objectives we are looking for a Permitting Engineer to reinforce our EHSS SABIC site Geleen department.
Job Purpose & Responsibilities
Maintaining or strengthening SABIC's License to Operate by advising and coordinating on the basis of knowledge and expertise in obtaining and complying with permits, developing and implementing thematic environmental (policy) plans for SABIC and acting on behalf of SABIC leading consultations/negotiations with the government.
